91热爆 TALENT

91热爆 Talent offer chance to appear in major new adaptation of The Canterbury Tales

The 91热爆 is searching for actors or aspiring actors to appear in their epic new drama serial The Canterbury Tales, to be screened on 91热爆 ONE later this year.

91热爆 Talent, the 91热爆's unique initiative to find and develop new broadcast talent in the UK, is beginning its search this year with open auditions in Kent for 91热爆 Drama's modern interpretation of Chaucer's classic tales.

On offer at the six separate auditions are a variety of small speaking parts in each of six individual Canterbury Tales including an airport check-in assistant, a pub regular and a prison guard.

The tales are more than 600 years old but the themes of sex, greed, romantic love, religion and race have been preserved and adapted by some of the countries leading dramatists to reflect Britain in the 21st Century.

The roles are on offer to aspiring actors, professionally trained actors, or actors wanting to return to the profession.

Those auditioning must fit the character description for the roles and will be seen by a panel of industry experts including executive producer Franc Roddam (creator of Auf Wiedersehen Pet and director of the cult British Film Quadrophenia).

Roddam, who is known for discovering new acting talent, said: "These updated versions of Chaucer's classic stories capture the essence of what he was writing about and we are looking for local people to add more colour to the dramas.

"I hope everyone who thinks there might be a role for them comes and gives it a go."

The open auditions are being held along the route Chaucer's pilgrims travelled 聳 the journey beginning in Southwark, then Blackheath, Gravesend, Rochester, Chatham and finally Canterbury.

The first audition, for the role of a West African female airport check-in assistant, is being held in Chatham on Friday 7 February.

Other auditions follow over the next few weeks - see Notes to Editors.
