Newsnight
challenges Tony Blair to face public on Iraq
Newsnight
has challenged the Prime Minister to face opponents of the possibility
of war with Iraq, to see if he can persuade them to accept his chosen
course.
Tony
Blair has agreed to answer tough questions from Jeremy Paxman, and
an audience entirely made up of people sceptical about military
action against Iraq, in Blair on Iraq - A Newsnight Special.
The
50 minute programme, to be screened at 9.00pm on 91热爆 TWO on Thursday
6 February 2003, will give the audience an opportunity to tackle
the Prime Minister on this controversial issue.
Later
that evening, Kirsty Wark and a panel of representatives from the
main political parties will analyse the Prime Minister's performance
on Newsnight (10.30pm, 91热爆 TWO).
In
a follow-up to Newsnight's in-depth interview with the Prime Minister,
conducted last year, Jeremy Paxman, and a second specially assembled
audience, will tackle Tony Blair on his public service record.
Paxman
and members of the public will question the Government's performance
on health, education and crime in a session to be screened during
Newsnight on Friday 7 February 2003 (10.30pm, 91热爆 TWO).
George
Entwistle, Editor of Newsnight, said: "The special programme
will give the public a unique opportunity to air their views and
challenge the Prime Minister on the case for British involvement
in military action against Iraq."
