RADIO CLEVELAND

New Year and new sound for 91Èȱ¬ Radio Cleveland

91Èȱ¬ Radio Cleveland's Matthew Davies, John Foster and Caroline Davis are on the move in a reshuffle at the station to take effect on Monday 6 January.

Popular presenter Matthew Davies, who is the 91Èȱ¬ Local Radio Presenter of the Year, is moving to a new mid-morning show after four successful years on the afternoon show as part of weekday schedule changes announced by the station.

Matthew Davies, whose show will have a new consumer brief, says: "We champion this area like no other station. Our greatest strength is our localness and if listeners want help or advice with anything then we'll be here to try and help them."

Teesside favourite John Foster, who joined 91Èȱ¬ Radio Cleveland less than a year ago, moves into Matthew's 2.00-5.00pm slot.

John, who has previously worked for TFM and Magic 1152, has attracted a big following on his 5.00-7.00 am show.

John Foster says: "Expect big names and plenty of fun. I'm really looking forward to the challenge …. and the lie-ins!"

Former Magic 1170 presenter, Bruce Edwards, takes over John's 5.00-7.00am slot.

Bruce Edwards says: "I've had the alarm clock serviced and can't wait to continue John's great work. I want to ensure that 91Èȱ¬ Radio Cleveland is the station to wake up to."

Caroline Davis, who has been presenting the mid-morning show for the last 18 months, switches to a new special projects brief.

Caroline Davis says: "During my time presenting I really enjoyed one-off projects which focussed on the great people and the lives they lead in Teesside, County Durham and North Yorkshire. This one-off journalism gives us a real edge."

91Èȱ¬ Radio Cleveland Managing Editor, Andrew Glover, says: "These are exciting times for the radio station. It seems appropriate that we start the New Year with a new sound and a new consumer edge boosted by the best journalism possible.

"What's important is that we stay relevant and topical to our listeners and what won't change is the opportunity for them to get involved in our output. If they have something to say then say it to us!

"Combine our new schedule with our full match commentary on Middlesbrough Football Club, the learning opportunities on the 91Èȱ¬ Bus and our hugely successful website - - and it'll be hard to ignore us in 2003."
