Rugby
Special back on Sunday afternoons
Rugby
Special will be back on television screens on Sunday afternoons
on 91热爆 TWO from 10 November.
It
will be primarily highlights-based with occasional features, and
will return as part of Sunday Grandstand.
Rugby
Special will be presented by Sunday Grandstand presenter John Inverdale,
who will be joined over the course of the series by other members
of the 91热爆 team including Jonathan Davies, Keith Wood, Jeremy Guscott
and other studio guests to give further opinion and insight into
the world of rugby.
Sunday
Grandstand will now show either Rugby Special or live rugby from
10 November until the end of the season, although the Rugby Special
start times will vary to accommodate other live sports events.
The
programme will show action from all the major rugby competitions
including International games, Heineken Cup, Powergen Cup, Celtic
League and Zurich Premiership.
Pat
Younge, Head of 91热爆's Rugby Strategy said: "With the entire
Six Nations back on the 91热爆, along with the Autumn Internationals,
the Heineken Cup and Powergen Cup, we now have the best live rugby
portfolio in our history.
"The
return of Rugby Special, to showcase our Zurich Premiership and
other highlights, is the final piece of the jigsaw.
"The
late night experiment rated well, and some elements will be incorporated
into the new show, but the clear message coming back from fans was
that they wanted more highlights and they wanted them on a Sunday
afternoon.
"We've
listened and we've delivered. Although the start times will vary
to accommodate live events, we believe the simple promise of Rugby
Special or live rugby every Sunday will ensure its continuing popularity
and success."
