NORTH EAST & CUMBRIA REGIONAL TV

Regional current affairs move to 91热爆 ONE - Inside Out launches on 9 September

91热爆 current affairs programmes in the North East & Cumbria take on a brand new look and format from 9 September as they switch from 91热爆 TWO to a new peak time Monday night slot on 91热爆 ONE.

Inside Out
is the new name for the programmes which will be used across the English Regions.

It will replace the range of individual titles previously used on 91热爆 TWO (Close Up North in North East & Cumbria) and introduce a completely new approach to engaging audiences with aspects of the life of their region.

Inside Out will be made and produced locally and will feature three stories a week: one a traditional investigation, the second heritage/history based and the third a personality led item.

Chris Jackson, a former Look North presenter and a familiar 91热爆 personality in the North East & Cumbria, will be the presenter for the new programme, which will be broadcast every Monday night at 7.30pm.

The move of regional current affairs to 91热爆 ONE achieves a long-held ambition of 91热爆 programme-makers.

An extra 拢2 million has been invested into the new series across the 11 English regions. In the North East & Cumbria, each week will see Chris in a different part of the region bringing a range of surprising stories from familiar places.

Newcastle-born Chris says: "I suppose the first surprising thing about the programme is that when people hear me speak, they don't think I'm from this region.

"I'm a Geordie, but you wouldn't know it. That's because at the age of five I had to leave Tyneside and move to Germany. Any trace of a northern accent was soon hidden behind an American twang I picked up at a school for US armed forces children.

"The family eventually moved back to Newcastle and as a kid I remember watching Mike Neville on 91热爆 television and thinking one day I want to be doing that.

"It finally happened, becoming one of the regular evening news presenters, but Inside Out is a new pinnacle for me. There aren't many jobs that are as good as this."

Inside Out will have an initial nine week run followed by a further nine weeks next year. It will share its Monday evening slot with 4x4 Reports and other current affairs output.

Lorraine Heggessey, Controller of 91热爆 ONE, says: "Being in touch with our audience across the nation is integral to the channel.

"Inside Out allows 91热爆 ONE to tell the stories that are relevant to our viewers' daily lives and local area.

"Regional news is already a vital part of the 91热爆 ONE mix and this is a natural extension of the channel's commitment to giving viewers the full local picture."
