Dangerous To Dance?
News survey for 1Xtra reveals many feel clubbing has become too
dangerous
A new opinion poll, conducted for TX - the news service for
1Xtra - has revealed that there is massive support for tougher security
measures in clubs from young fans of black music.
The survey, carried out by ICM Research, questioned 529 young black
people aged between 16 and 24 nationwide.
The results offer a vital insight into attitudes of young clubbers
in the UK today.
Highlights from the survey include:
89% would favour the use of metal detectors or other measures to
detect weapons in clubs
17% felt the need to carry a weapon for self defence when out clubbing
1 in 4 of those questioned have been involved in a violent incident
when out clubbing
1 in 3 of those questioned felt that the clubbing had become less
safe in the last five years
1 in 3 of those questioned had been put off going clubbing due to
a fear of violence
40% of young black men have experienced racism while going out to
music venues
Rod
McKenzie, Editor of 1Xtra's TX news, said: "Many of our audience
are worried that it is getting too dangerous to dance and they clearly
support any action that will make going out much safer.
"It's one of the key issues we'll be tackling on TX 聳
which will bring a fresh agenda and approach to 91热爆 News."
