Daniel Deronda - the cast and their characters


Hugh Dancy will soon be seen in Tempo starring alongside Hollywood actress Melanie Griffiths. His film and TV credits also include Black Hawk Down, Young Blades, David Copperfield and Madam Bovary.


Daniel Deronda
Daniel is the hero. Brilliant, young and idealistic. Daniel is emotionally drawn to Gwendolen Harleth, but a chance meeting with a young Jewish woman Mirah Lapidoth takes him on a journey of self-discovery.



Romola Garai's television and film credits include Last of The Blonde Bomshells, Perfect and Attachments. Romola will also seen as Cassandra Mortmain in the 91热爆 Film I Capture The Castle.


Gwendolen Harleth
Gwendolen is the heroine. One of literatures great female characters - proud, beautiful, witty, spoilt, sensitive - a 聭heartbreaker, who gets her own heart broken聮.


Hugh Bonneville appeared as the young John Bayley in the critically acclaimed film Iris. Hugh's other film and television credits include Notting Hill, Madame Bovary, Mansfield Park, Take A Girl Like You and The Gathering Storm.


Henleigh Grandcourt
Rich, powerful, complex. Grandcourt is intent on moulding Gwendolen into his perfect wife.


Jodhi May's credits include Mayor Of Casterbridge, Turn Of The Screw, House Of Mirth and For The Greater Good directed by Danny Boyle. Jodhi will also be seen later this year in Andrew Davies' lesbian love story Tipping The Velvet.


Mirah Lapidoth
Mirah develops feelings for Daniel, the young man who foils her suicide attempt. The young Jewish woman's search for her mother and brother opens a world unventured before by Deronda.
