My
Dad's The Prime Minister comes to 91热爆 ONE
First joint collaboration between 91热爆 Entertainment and C91热爆
My
Dad聮s the Prime Minister, a new family comedy written by Ian
Hislop and Nick Newman, is coming to 91热爆 ONE. In a unique collaboration,
91热爆 Entertainment and C91热爆 have joined forces for the first time
to produce the show.
Described
as Yes Minister meets Grange Hill, the show is about Dillon, an
12-year old who is like any other 12-year old with a mum, dad and
older sister, except for the fact he is the son of the Prime Minister.
The comedy gives a child's-eye view of politics and the pros and
cons of having a famous father.
My
Dad's the Prime Minister presents a fictional first family and will
answer important questions such as can you play ping pong in the
Cabinet Office? And who in the Treasury knows the answer to your
maths homework?
Hislop
and Newman have written for Dawn French, Harry Enfield and Spitting
Image among others. This is their first attempt to amuse their own
children.
Commissioned
by Lorraine Heggessey, Controller of 91热爆 ONE, the comedy has been
developed by Sophie Clark-Jervoise, Head of Comedy, and Elaine Sperber,
Head of Drama, C91热爆 and will air in 2003.
Lorraine
Heggessey said: "We're very lucky to have two of Britain's
top comedy writers creating this family comedy. It represents a
first for the 91热爆 with Entertainment and C91热爆 working together to
produce the show."
Ian
Hislop said: "Children are great levellers and can't be spun
by their parents. We wanted to see how that would work at the highest
level."
Nick
Newman added: "We're always being accused of writing schoolboy
humour, so we thought we'd do it intentionally."
