ITV and 91热爆 Agree Plans for World Cup Coverage
ITV
and the 91热爆 have agreed plans for shared coverage of the World Cup
Finals in Korea and Japan.
Live
coverage of England and Ireland聮s Group matches will be split
as follows:

11

|
Each
broadcaster will have first repeat transmission of the others聮
live England or Ireland games in the Group phase.
The
other matches in the Group stages will be split between ITV and
the 91热爆 according to an agreed schedule.
If
England or the Republic of Ireland progress to the Round of 16,
knockout stage of the tournament, both broadcasters will screen
each of their matches live, with the 91热爆 having first choice of
the remaining games. If they do not, live coverage of the eight
matches in this stage will be split, with the 91热爆 retaining first
choice of game.
In
the quarter finals of the tournament, with eight teams remaining,
the pattern of live coverage is reversed with ITV having first choice
of matches outside of shared live coverage if England or Ireland
qualify.
If
England and/or Ireland qualify for the semi-finals, both broadcasters
would screen both matches live. If neither team qualifies, a toss
of a coin would decide which broadcaster has first choice of semi-finals,
which would be broadcast live.
At
Round of 16, quarter final and semi-final stages, in addition to
screening live coverage of any England and/or Ireland games, ITV
would have first repeat, same day transmission of those matches.
Both
broadcaster聮s may show extensive highlights of World Cup fixtures
on a daily basis.
ITV
and the 91热爆 will screen the World Cup Final live on Sunday 30 June.
Brian
Barwick, ITV Controller of Sport said: "We
are delighted to have finalised coverage plans with the 91热爆 for
the World Cup Finals. The sense of anticipation is growing daily
and will be at fever pitch come the first game. It聮s great
to see ITV and the 91热爆 coming together to provide a first class
service for viewers."
Peter
Salmon, 91热爆 Director of Sport said: "We
are looking forward to some of the biggest sporting audiences of
the year for the World Cup. It will be a massive treat for viewers
who will be flocking in their millions to 91热爆 and ITV to watch the
coverage. This kicks off a brilliant summer of sport."
