91Èȱ¬ Worldwide takes Glastonbury headliners to the world

91Èȱ¬ Worldwide is celebrating a momentous weekend where it made live performances from the Glastonbury Festival 2011 available to viewers in Ireland, Brazil, Germany and the USA.

For the first time in the forty one year history of the iconic Glastonbury festival, viewers in four territories outside of the UK were also able to share in the incredible performances as they happened or later the same day.

The opening day of the festival saw international rock superstars U2 give their first ever Glastonbury performance. 91Èȱ¬ Worldwide completed a deal with Setanta to enable viewers in the Republic of Ireland to view the whole of U2’s unique performance live and uninterrupted on Setanta Ireland.

Saturday saw the amazing performances from the Glastonbury Festival taken even further afield. Coldplay's show-stopping performance from the Pyramid stage was broadcast live via satellite directly from Somerset, England to viewers across Brazil on MultiShow and MultiShow HD.

Simultaneously, Coldplay's performance was delivered live via satellite and broadcast in full throughout the USA on both Vh1 and Palladia at 10pm Eastern Standard Time on Saturday.

Finally, 91Èȱ¬W broke further new ground as German channel ZDFKultur broadcast a full five hours of content from Glastonbury on Saturday evening. ZDFKultur presenters were present at the festival to introduce performances from the Pyramid stage, featuring chart-topping acts including Biffy Clyro, Rumer, Tinie Tempah, Paolo Nutini and Elbow. The broadcast was concluded with the whole of Coldplay’s performance being screened live on ZDFKultur.

Salim Mukaddam, VP of Music Television at 91Èȱ¬ Worldwide, said: "In only our second year of partnering with the Glastonbury Festival, we've been able to make these amazing performances available to a greater audience than ever before. We're really pleased that this year, music fans from the USA, Brazil, Ireland and Germany have all been able to feel involved in the world’s greatest music festival by watching live performances from Glastonbury. It's our ability to deliver these kinds of opportunities to artists and labels that makes 91Èȱ¬ Worldwide the first choice in music television distribution."

In addition to making available these live performances, 91Èȱ¬ Worldwide will once again be taking the world-famous festival to the world by distributing a 1 x 60 Glastonbury Highlights title and a 5 x 60 extended Glastonbury highlights package. Glastonbury highlights programming has already been snapped up by major broadcasters in the USA, Japan, Latin America, Spain and Brazil.

Other music shows on offer from 91Èȱ¬ Worldwide include the brand new title from Radiohead, who made a secret special guest appearance on the Park Stage at Glastonbury this year. The title 'The Kings of Limbs - Live From The Basement' features Radiohead performing the whole of their new album The King of Limbs as well as 'Supercollider' and two brand new tracks that have not been recorded previously, 'Daily Mail' and 'Staircase' both of which the band played as part of their Glastonbury set.
