91Èȱ¬ Worldwide will return to Brazil to host the 6th annual 91Èȱ¬ Showcase Latin America. Attended by broadcasters from across Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market, this year's event will run from September 13 through September 15 at the JW Marriott, Rio de Janeiro.
Latin America's only television market hosted by a single distributor will see 91Èȱ¬ Worldwide unveil a range of dynamic new content to complement its vast catalog of more than 35,000 hours of high-quality programming. The eclectic new catalog covers a wide range of genres from natural history to drama, science to children’s programming.Â
With 6,000 hours available for digital distribution, over 575 hours of content in Spanish and 825 hours of high definition programming already in its portfolio, 91Èȱ¬ Worldwide offers a wide array of opportunities for clients across Latin America – from traditional television buyers to mobile and digital media buyers.
Steve Macallister, Managing Director, 91Èȱ¬ Worldwide Sales and Distribution said, "91Èȱ¬ Worldwide has one of the most diverse content catalogs in the industry. We're delighted to be back in Rio to host this entertaining event showcasing the best of our best."
Commented Matt Forde, Executive Vice President, Sales & Distribution, 91Èȱ¬ Worldwide, Americas, "We are especially proud of the programs being highlighted this year at 91Èȱ¬ Showcase Latin America. The region is a priority for us and we look forward to further growing our business in the region."
Headlining the drama genre is Survivors, a series about what life would be like in the aftermath of a devastating virus which wipes out most of the world's population. Also from drama there's Being Erica, the story of a girl stepping into her past with her adult mind to analyze where things went right – and where things went wrong. Paradox, from the makers of Afterlife and Persuasion, is a high-octane investigative drama series that sees a team of detectives in a race against time to prevent crime and change the future.
From the comedy genre, 91Èȱ¬ Worldwide will present How Not to Live your Life. This hilarious series begs the question – if we could live certain situations again, would we do things better or just end up making more of a mess of it than before? Another key title in the genre is Krod Mandoon. This outrageous, live-action, character-driven show set in an ancient fantasy realm, follows reluctant hero Krod Mandoon, a thin-skinned and under-confident freedom fighter, who is the last great hope in the struggle against the evil ruler, Chancellor Dongalor.
One of the most exciting titles coming out of the natural history genre this year is Life. Over four years in the making, taking full advantage of the latest advances in technology, this breathtaking 10-part blockbuster reveals the natural world's most remarkable behavior in unprecedented depth and detail. Full of amazing filming firsts on every continent and in every habitat, Life allows viewers to witness the innovative, intelligent and sometimes truly bizarre tactics plants and animals employ in order to survive.Â
Also highlighted in the natural history genre is World's Worst Disasters, a series that shows what happens when natural forces come into conflict with humans, producing devastating results. Additionally, Animal Heroes is a series about animals who risk all to save humans.
In the science genre, Human Journey features five epic journeys in search of the ancient routes taken by early humans as they left East Africa to populate the world. Future Earth takes a look into what global warming really means for the future of the world and the pioneering developments which might well alter its course.
Children's programs are paramount this year. 3rd & Bird!, from the creator of the phenomenally successful The Wonder Pets, is a beautifully animated series for three-to five-year-olds packed with entertaining stories, songs and adorable characters. Garth & Bev is a brother and sister duo, like any other seven and five year-olds, apart from the fact that they live in the Bronze Age and can time-travel. Steve’s Deadly Sixty is Steve Backshall's latest kid-friendly adventure racing against time to find creatures like tiger sharks, giant centipedes, funnel web spiders and the golden poison frog.
Factual titles include Make My Body Younger, a series taking young people on an incredible journey inside their own bodies to find out the damage that their over-indulgent lifestyles are doing to their health. Rituals is an ambitious and exhaustive guide to the lengths human societies go to get in touch with the spiritual world. In the Music genre, Sounds of the Sixties compiles exclusive 91Èȱ¬ content giving a subjective overview of a decade that gave birth to the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd. Other highlights include unique performances by the Bee Gees, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Status Quo and Dusty Springfield.
