91Èȱ¬ Knowledge Launches on GS Gangnam in South Korea

91Èȱ¬ Worldwide today announced a deal which sees the launch of 91Èȱ¬ Knowledge on GS Gangnam Broadcasting in South Korea.

Available on the digital basic tier of the platform, the launch will build on 91Èȱ¬ Knowledge's existing distribution in the country. The channel is currently available to 650,000 households on CJ Hellovision’s digital platform and on Science TV as a two-hour prime-time block to 10 million homes.

Commenting on the launch, Mark Whitehead, 91Èȱ¬ Worldwide Channels Asia's Senior Vice President and General Manager said: "South Korea is an important part of our channels' expansion strategy in Asia. We are excited to build on the existing distribution of 91Èȱ¬ Knowledge through this partnership with GS Gangnam."

91Èȱ¬ Knowledge showcases the best of the 91Èȱ¬'s award-winning factual and documentary entertainment programming. The channel offers five key strands of programming – The World delves into new cultures around the world; Science & Technology looks at new frontiers, from space to motoring; People explores aspects of the human body and mind; The Past brings historical events, places and people back to life; Business offers advice on how to stay on top of today's challenging business world.

Documentary programmes premiering first and exclusively on the channel in June include Dragon's Den, the programme that sees entrepreneurs pitching for investment from some of Britain's top business brains. Viewers can also catch A Child Against All Odds which explores the reality of creating new life in the 21st century and its ethical dilemmas, and BAFTA award-winning documentary series Ross Kemp on Gangs.

GS Broadcasting offers cable broadcasting and super-speed internet service in Ulsan a metropolitan city in the south-east of South Korea and Gangnam in Seoul, one of the most affluent areas in the city under GS Gangnam Broadcasting.

The channel was launched this month on the digital basic tier on channel 253.

Since its launch in Asia in July 2007, 91Èȱ¬ Knowledge has expanded exponentially and is now carried by cable and satellite operators in Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong and South Korea. Outside of Asia, 91Èȱ¬ Knowledge has extended its reach to Poland, South Africa and Australia and Scandinavia.
