Fan favourite Blake's 7 revived on audio CD

91Èȱ¬ Audiobooks has extended its vast collection of classic sci-fi titles with two new releases from the acclaimed British series Blake's 7. Each CD volume features two exciting novelised stories from the TV adventures, read by original members of the cast and with atmospheric music and special effects to add to the listener's enjoyment. Blake's 7: The Way Back and Blake's 7: Cygnus Alpha are both priced at £15.65 and available to buy now.

Created by Terry Nation, best known for his invention of the Dalek monsters in Doctor Who, Blake's 7 originally aired on 91Èȱ¬1 between 1978 and 1981 and is still highly regarded for its unique contribution to science-fiction. In a poll of SFX readers in 2005, Blake's 7 was voted fourth in the top fifty British telefantasy shows of all time, proving its popularity to this day. The series follows revolutionary Roj Blake as he leads his band of rebels against the forces of the Terran Federation which rules the Earth and many of the planets of the galaxy.

These latest titles complement 91Èȱ¬ Audiobooks' ongoing range of classic science-fiction, for which there is an extensive backlist ranging from Frankenstein to Doctor Who.

Blake's 7: The Way Back
3 hours on 3 CDs
Read by Gareth Thomas, who played Blake in the popular 91Èȱ¬ TV series by Terry Nation, this CD volume tells the story of the episodes The Way Back and Space Fall.

On Earth in the far future, Roj Blake discovers the truth about his past life as a resistance leader – and about his fight against the Federation, a vicious, power-wielding dictatorship which rules the galaxy. Framed for a series of crimes he did not commit, Blake is sentenced to life on a distant penal colony planet. But his journey there, on board the prison ship London, will shape his future in an unexpected way…

Along with fellow prisoners including Kerr Avon and Jenna Stannis, Blake marshals a rebellion against the London’s crew. But when the ship encounters a mysterious, wondrous craft apparently floating in space, the three rebels are sent aboard – and so they take their first steps inside the majestic Liberator.

Blake's 7: Cygnus Alpha
3 hours 20 minutes on 3 CDs
Read by Paul Darrow, who played Avon, this CD volume tells the story of the episodes Cygnus Alpha and Time Squad.

On the run from the ruthless Federation, Roj Blake pilots the Liberator towards the planet Cygnus Alpha, determined to free those prisoners sentenced to life in its penal colony. At his side are fellow rebels Kerr Avon and Jenna Stannis, and the ship’s computer, Zen.

But there is plague on the bleak and desolate planet surface, and when the prison ship London arrives it discharges its passengers into the hands of superstitious maniacs. For prisoners Vila and Gan, it looks as if their end has come all too soon.

Meanwhile, on the planet Saurian Major, there is a female telepath named Cally. Could she form the final component of Blake’s 7?
