On Saturday 25 April, 91Èȱ¬ World News broadcasts a special episode of The World Debate posing the question ‘Global Recession: A Developing World Emergency?’
Moderated by Zeinab Badawi, presenter of 91Èȱ¬ World News’ programme World News Today, the debate features five panellists who will discuss how the worst economic crisis in decades continues to take its toll on developing countries, and what kind of steps should be taken to reduce the impact on the world's poorest people.
The guest panel includes Prime Minister of Mozambique, Luisa Dias Diogo, President of the World Bank, Robert Zoellick, Campaigner and Musician, Bob Geldof, Deputy Chairman of the Indian Planning Commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, and German Development Minister, Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul.
The World Debate series puts the important questions to those in the spotlight: high profile representatives from global politics, finance, business, the arts, media and other areas. Recent particpants have included President of Guyana, Bharrat Jagdeo, British Foreign Office Minister, Lord Malloch-Brown, and Swedish Foreign Minister, Carl Bildt.
