Retirement
has given me time to develop my long-standing interest in photography.
That interest waned when long hours with messy chemicals in a darkened
bathroom all too often gave disappointing results, but it has been
revived by switching from film to digital processing and using a
computer to manipulate and print the images. My use of computers
is also long-standing, having used one for the first time in 1959
and having had a lot to do with them ever since.
The
idea of a Hanney village calendar occurred to me about a year ago,
and has turned out to be quite a challenge. I wanted to take a picture
each month that showed some typical village activity or view, was
of an appropriate subject for the month, and made a 'nice picture'.
Whether
I've succeeded or not is for others to judge, of course. Once again,
a month is slipping by and I haven't yet captured a suitable image.
So
far I have (just) managed to find a picture each month, but it's
harder than I thought it would be.
Looking
to the future, I can see an additional constraint. Each month's
new picture should not be too similar to any that I've used in previous
years. It's even more challenging than I thought. Fortunately the
Hanneys (East and West) form an enterprising community with lots
of organisations and activities, so there should be scope for plenty
of pictures.
As
always, I just have to be at the right place at the right time.
