Don't pass on the pancakes
Pancakes!
The perfect pancake makes a tasty treat.
They're eaten all over the world and kids scream for them! Pancake day is on Tuesday - here's our guide to enjoying these tasty, traditional Lent offerings.

Pancakes are a Shrove Tuesday tradition which can be traced back to the early 15th century.

Pan fact:
The world's largest pancake was cooked in Rochdale in 1997. It weighed over 3 tonnes!

Originally, they were the perfect way to use up all those ingredients you were not allowed to eat during Lent - the 40 days running up to Easter.

The British tradition has moved way beyond just using up the contents of the larder - many towns and villages now have annual pancake races, there are numerous pancake eating competitions and, of course, there are various world records associated with them (the biggest one ever cooked was around 15 metres wide).

But the most enjoyable part of any pancake surely has to be the eating of it. So whether you're after a sweet sensation or a savoury snack the following pages are bound to whet your appetite.
