John Harvey

Creator of 'Resnick' - John Harvey

He's best known for his "Charlie Resnick" novels and short stories.

Resnick is a Detective Inspector of Polish descent, working with a small team of officers from a substation on the outskirts of Nottingham city centre.

His patch contains both the private houses of the expensive Park estate and the more run-down areas in the Alfreton Road area.

John Harvey wrote ten Resnick novels in a decade and decided to quit after moving away from Nottingham where he had lived for 17 years.

Before becoming a full-time author, he taught English and drama in secondary schools.

He has gone on to publish more than 90 books and has also won awards for his radio dramatisation and still works on scripts for television and radio.

Julie Myerson

Columnist and novelist, Julie Myerson

Julie Myerson was born in Nottingham in 1960.

She read English at Bristol University and has worked for the National Theatre and Walker Books.

Julie now lives in London with her husband and their three young children.

She is a well-known journalist and critic and regularly reviews films and books in newspapers and for radio, as well as writing for many of Britain's glossy magazines.

Her latest novel, 'Laura Blundy', pairs crime with love in a thrilling combination. Her other novels include 'Sleepwalking', 'The Touch', and 'Me And the Fat Man'.
