Rising stars - Andrea Lowe of Rescue Me
Andrea Lowe

Looking to be rescued from her life as a PA - Nottingham born Andrea Lowe, star of the new 91热爆 Sunday night drama Rescue Me

Nottingham actors are suddenly becoming a regular feature on our television screens.

A few weeks ago we told you about Micaiah Dring, one of the leading actors in Footballers Wives.

Now the television viewing public are about to hear a lot more about Andrea Lowe.

She plays Melanie, the single mum in the 91热爆s new Sunday night drama-comedy series Rescue Me.

The 26-year-old is getting used to playing single mums - this is her third such role in less than a year.

"In The Bill and Peak Practice, I played single mums who abandoned their babies, so at least this time I got to keep it!

Sally Phillips
Sally Phillips, star of the 91热爆s Rescue Me, based around the publishing world of glossy magazines.

It's a great opportunity for me, because I didn't go to drama school, I got most of my early experience at home in Nottingham in a theatre group called Acorn, and from there I managed eventually to get an agent."

Andrea was born in Arnold but her parents now live in Woodthorpe, although she's moved to London.

"I come back all the time to see family and friends.

Everytime I come back there are so many new shops and restaurants to go to. My brother keeps me up to date with the club scene."

Andrea's character in Rescue Me, a series which is based around the publishing world of glossy magazines, is a PA aspiring to be a writer but continually being knocked back.

In the real world she's hoping for a second series of Rescue Me although her ultimate aim is to make it to the movies.

In the meantime she's developing her skills on the stage having just completed a production of Pinter's The Birthday Party at Sheffield's Crucible theatre. That was her first professional theatre performance.

She's conscious of keeping her feet firmly on the ground.

"I've got my fingers crossed about the future but I'm not so naive as to realise there'll be periods of unemployment during my acting career."
