Mum

Mum never cooks,
But she reads lots of books.
Mum doesn't clean,
But she's the wine queen.
But mum's really great,
And she's nearly twenty eight.

Over 16's winner

Liz Kerry, Sandiacre

Mum, you mean the world to me,
But I never really knew,
What it meant to be a mum,
Till I became one too.

24 hours a day on call,
Eyes in the back of your head,
Wiping endless tears away,
Keeping us warm and fed.

Answering the questions,
Of our inquisitive minds,
Helping us out,
When we get into binds.

Lending us money,
When we've got none,
Mumbled thanks,
And then we're gone.

Years and years
Of putting us first,
Even when we
Were at our worst.

Now we're grown,
We can see it is true,
How you scrimped and saved,
But got nothing for you.

So this is our way,
Of letting you know,
How special you are,
And we love you so.
