Let's
be honest. The Nutty Professor wasn't a bad film. After
all, it had to be better than the original 1963 movie with
Jerry Lewis.
And Eddie
Murphy will probably see his bank balance swell yet again
with this sequel.

What
do you mean you've seen this expression before |
Sadly,
we know what to expect. Eddie is THE MAN when it comes
to playing multiple character parts, in this case Sherman
Klump and the many members of his family, both old and
young.
Last time
around he discovered a potion to reduce his ample size to
one less rounded. Now he's found a youth elixir.
Similar
plot and like before his alter-ego Buddy Love reappears
to spoil the day.

I
bet this film makes more money than Michael's "Moonwalker"
|
With
so much familiar material Eddie needs to up the laughter
quota to make the film special. But the jokes are not
in large enough supply and the movie ends up being a pale
imitation of Murphy's first Nutty Professor.
Still,
Eddie's on top form and is ably supported by Janet Jackson
(following in the footsteps of Bjork and Jennifer Lopez
as pop stars doing more than just a music video).
It's
not great, but given the current trend for toilet humour,
there should be enough fans for Nutty Professor II.
