Another
remake, this time from a 1974 original. Gone In 60 Seconds
gives a crash course in stealing cars.
Nicolas
Cage is Randall "Memphis" Raines, a legendary
retired car thief. He is forced out of retirement when
his brother gets on the wrong side of bad guy Raymond
Calitri, played by Our Friends In The North star Christopher
Eccleston.
To
save brother from an untimely death, Raines is forced
to steal fifty "impossible to steal" cars and
deliver them to Calitri for shipment overseas.

"And
which vehicle would Sir prefer?" |
Good
story. Maybe, but the finished product hardly gets out
of first gear. True, there are plenty of car chases but
what film nowadays does not have a car chase.
The
story plods along as if in a 30mph speed limit zone. Only
Cage's character is fully formed.
And
what about Vinnie Jones? His character is called The Sphinx.
He says nothing throughout the movie. Nuff said.
