When
the sun stops shining here is the perfect film to take
the children to during the summer holidays.
Director
Rob Minkoff made his name putting "The Lion King"
on screen. Now he has turned his attention to slightly smaller
animals. Stuart is a talking mouse. So when the Little family,
headed by Hugh Laurie of Blackadder fame, decide they want
to adopt another child, it is only logical they give the mouse
a home. This is Hollywood after all.
The film
takes the form of a series of set pieces involving the pet
cat, who is not impressed by Stuart's arrival. Ally cats and
rogue mice all endeavour to make the littlest Little's life
a misery.
Jonathan
Lipnicki plays the son of the family. He is right up there
in the Macaulay Culkin mould but even he cannot steal the
limelight from the talking, dancing mouse.
It is
a film for children but as the Hollywood producers have found
out, there is enough to keep the mums and dads involved. Take
a couple of handkerchiefs for those sentimental scenes.
