Graham Coxon's gig in York on 16 January was such an excellent one. The comparably smaller venue allows in only the biggest fans, and the atmosphere was proved to be extremely intimate. The fans did not have to wait long till they heard songs like 'Spectacular'. Before then they were all already jumping up and down, moving their bodies following the exciting vibes. Graham's guitar performance surely gave those dreaming to play guitar (including myself) a truly good lesson: how does he do that? From this chord to that chord, how could his fingers move there so amazingly fast? Absolutely impressive.

When he was singing 'Freakin' Out' almost all those there were singing along. As well as songs from the previous album 'Happiness in Magazines', Graham also sang some new works. Loud as the other songs, at Fibbers Graham's voice seemed to remind us of the sound from his former band Blur. Surely some fans there were reminded of how they like(d) that band. All of Graham's band members deserved more attention too, although they let Graham stay the central star. I'm sure although fans came because of him, they surely were impressed by the band as well. Such a fantastic gig scene! Indeed, a night to remember...听 Wanyu Lin |
