Exploring topics in his new book, Andrew Marr chats to William Crawley about 'A history of modern Britain'. Andrew shares how his book tries to answer the question of how Britain became the very mixed multi ethnic rich society it is today. Addressing events such as the great big squatting revolt in 1946, to the war waged in the Middle East today. In a tongue-and-cheek way, he says the book tells the story of the defeat of politics by shopping and how a recurring theme of the book is the persistent failure of the political elites.听In conversation with William Crawley, he also says that Britain is the most interesting country to live in the world and conversely, says America is an extremely intellectually boring place.听
