A Derry man is taking legal action against the nuns who ran a home in the city in the forties.

Ìý

Allegedly abused by the nuns who were supposed to care for him and kept apart from his mother who tried to claim him back. That's what happened to one local man who's now taking unprecedented legal action against the Sisters of Nazarath who ran the home at Termonbacca where he was placed as a child from 1941 until 1947. The man, who's now in his 60s, told Amanda Williams that he hopes he will at last be able to get some closure on the events that have scarred his life.

The man is claiming for damages for personal injuries because of alleged negligence. He also claims that his right to private and family life was breached.
