TRANSFER CONFUSION

Children whose Primary School education comes to an end in 2010 could be faced with at least three different entrance exams. The minister, Catriona Ruane, has told schools not to use a selective exam. But her recommendation is not legally binding. It's all left many pupils, and teachers, confused about the way forward.

The Minister, Catriona Ruane, says she's offering parents "clarity and certainty". She says admissions criteria will be based around community, family, and geography. But she told Mark Patterson it's not legislation, but guidance.

The 11 Plus has gone for those who want to go to Grammar School. But when Sarah Brett visited Rosemount Primary School, she found some children could face at least three different entrance tests.

The PUP leader, Dawn Purvis, says she blames both Sinn Fein and the DUP for the lack of clarity on the transfer test.

The principal of Ebrington Primary School, Nigel Doherty, says parents are anxious and angry. He says children have been left in an "unregulated" system.

COLLEGE UNVEILS TEST

Foyle and Londonderry is one of 30 Grammar Schools in Northern Ireland who have decided to use their own transfer test. And in November 2008, parents spoke to Enda McClafferty after getting their first glance at the the test - in English and Maths.

LAST TEST AT ST ANNE'S

November 21 2008: Sarah Brett went to St Anne's Primary School in Derry after children there had completed the last eleven plus. She spoke to principal, Michael McDaid, teacher, Paul McCusker, mums, Majella and Aisling, but first, to the children.
