All About SilverstoneYou are in: Northamptonshire > Silverstone > All About Silverstone > Bring on the big screen It was very exciting! Bring on the big screenThere's little that beats the thrill of the British Grand Prix. But the 91热爆 big screen brought people as close to the action as possible, without actually being there. It was all very civilised as the sun shone down on hundreds of people standing, crouching, sitting or lying in the market square in Northampton to watch the British Grand Prix and qualification on the big screen. Some were sipping tea, some were sipping something a bit stronger but all were enjoying the action on the big screen. Only 400 of these ever made The three shires Ferrari owners club were also there, a rare Ferrari Enzo, one of only four hundred ever made, amongst their number. Equally impressive were the dozen or so Harley Davidsons ridden by members of the Northants V-Twin who'd come along to display their impressive machines. Tooley's, a local radio controlled car shop set, up a mini grand prix circuit on which people raced to achieve the fastest lap around a chalk drawn Silverstone circuit while听 Rockingham and a Towcester based firm called Jemlar brought down a couple of simulators which drew a good crowd. Nene Valley Raceway, the club for radio controlled car enthusiasts, had a stand displaying some huge vehicles, some of which could reach speeds of fifty miles an hour. Amazing what you can do with a lawnmower engine! Everyone had a wonderful time, one man who'd heard about it on the radio and came along to have a look said that even if he'd had tickets to Silverstone, he'd have still come and watched it on the big screen. Well we believe him! last updated: 24/06/2009 at 08:29 SEE ALSOYou are in: Northamptonshire > Silverstone > All About Silverstone > Bring on the big screen Exclusive commentary from the home of Formula One |
