The legendary singer began his run of hits in September 1958 with 'Move It', and the new song, 'Thank You For A Lifetime', was released this week to mark his 50th anniversary in the music business. The single will be backed by a previously "lost" track, Mobile Alabama School Leaving Hullabaloo. Speaking to Bernie Keith, Sir Cliff said he had no recollection of ever recording the track!Ìý "We had put it to one side, probably in favour of Devil Woman, or We Don't Talk Anymore - and then forgot it! You'd think I would remember recording a title like that!"
Help playing audio/video Sixty years after arriving in England, Sir Cliff has also penned his autobiography, My Life My Way, with help from royal writer Penny Junor. In the book, Cliff speaks about his 50 years in showbiz - and about what life was like when he and his family first arrived in Britain in 1948. "We had a good life style in India.Ìý My father had a pretty good job there.Ìý When we came to get the tickets to go home he had to sell everything he owned - but he discovered he didn't own anything.Ìý In the end when we got here all he had left was five quid. If it wasn't for my grandmother and later, his sister who took us in, we wouldn't have had anywhere to live. We went through a really tough time."
