Hugh Mendes and his painting of the Twin Towers

Artist Hugh Mendes next to his painting

Northampton is the ideal location for artists to exhibit their work.

A London artist has praised Northampton's Fishmarket Art gallery for its size and location.

Hugh Mendes is running his exhibition at the venue, called An Existential Itch 2001 - 2008.

The work is made up of paintings charting the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the images that have since appeared in newspapers and on the television.

Hugh's specialist skill is to paint obituaries taken from newspapers, which include the rich, famous, infamous and the unknown.

The exhibition is running at the Fishmarket from now until 23rd August, 2008.
