It happened in a blink of an eye. A car appeared from nowhere and went straight into the back driver's side of the car. And my Dad was knocked out. My name is Adam Soney and I am twelve years old and live in Hampshire and I was in a car crash, when I had to rescue my dad from the wreckage. I had to smash through the passenger window with my bare hands because the electric button didn't work, and I got fragments of glass impaled in my knuckles, so I started to lose blood. I fell out of the window and tried to open the driver's door but it was jammed, so I had to smash the window. This time I used a brick which was on the side of the road and smashed the window which was much easier. I broke all the little sharp points of glass round the window frame and pulled my dad out with great difficulty. I then rang 999 and demanded an ambulance and fire brigade for the other casualty because I didn't have any energy left in my fragile body to help her. She was alive but trapped by her legs in her ford fiesta 1997 model. She was signing to me, with her hands, "Help me get out, please". I replied "I have rung the fire brigade to help you get out." She answered, "Thank you very much." The fire brigade turned up first and cut of the car roof with a hand chainsaw with sparks of metal flickering everywhere, and got the lady out. The ambulance arrived and gave my dad some oxygen and mouth to mouth. They also checked me and the lady for any injuries. The crew put my dad in the ambulance and while this was happening the mystery lady introduced herself "hello, I'm Hannah, I can't thank you enough for your bravery today." I answered, 鈥淵ou could buy me a scooter because I have always wanted one of them." "Then I will buy you one, thank you Adam." After that I went with my dad to the hospital and he has now finally recovered from a broken neck and fractured leg. A month later after the accident I received a medal of honour for my courage and bravery. |
