Dovedale Travel Writing

By Dove, 12, from Northampton.

We pulled through the tight spaced lane. The bright, bold, intense shine from the sun awoke me from my deep and dangerous sleep. I could see some cars parked and a great dip just like when you have just opened an ice cream tub and made a perfect scoop. Ahead I could see a dark, ugly,听green ,hilly mountain and it loomed against us like a murderer about to kill towering over us.

We got out of the car and steadily sidestepped down the deep dodgy dip. I could see rabbit poo pinned to the lively ground. I could see a small and cosy pathway as I walked along it. I admired the trees, which were swaying as if they were dancing to soft and peaceful music.

In the short distance of twenty-five metres, I could spot a bridge. The bridge was very small and petite, looking as though it had been out of a honey coloured colour but I must admit is was dirty. I could hear the sound of the clear & pure water flowing smoothly form the River Dove. We walked along the beach and the sound of screaming children and people talking pierced our eyes.

We walked past all the hustle and bustle and past the busy ice-cream vans. It was like entering into a completely different world, it was just pleasantly peaceful and quiet just like the expected scenery of English Countryside. There were mountains on the side all grey and gloomy but had tufts of grass dotted around on the mountain.

On the other side there were trees shaped weirdly like mental people waving their arms around. We found this as an advantage; my sister and I decided to swing like monkeys on vines. I felt as remarkably free as bird, swarming through the air forgetting all my troubles and remembering my happy memories. I could feel the cold breeze fighting against my face. I felt like a thousand knives slicing my face.

As we moved on, we saw a few ducks gathered we looked at the view and we were in awe of it. Noor, mum and I took of our trainers and chucked them into the distance and dipped our feet in the water, feeling the dazzling emotion was tremendously sensational. It was the heat of my feet clashing with the cold, purifying, refreshing water. It reminded me of the 'Dove' cucumber and green tea shower gel. We found our picnic basket and fed the ducks all the crisps that had flavours we did not like and fortunately ate them happily. We asked a stranger to take a picture of us. When I saw the flash, I smiled exchanging my feelings, emotions and my facial expression. Letting my memories, fun and emotions run wild inside me.

Now looking at that particular photograph and I remind myself of the things that happened there. Here we are admiring the view and feeling amazed but not realising we were there once! We felt like there was no place like this, which was rather ridiculous as we were there just yesterday!
