My Many Heroes

By Lauren Lantsbery from Northampton.

My Dad - always my childhood hero.
The one person who loved me unconditionally.
The one person who thought I could do no wrong.
- Oh Dad - I could - and I did - but I loved you for the faith you had in me.

My Dad - the stubborn hero.
How I heard you argue so many times when you believed you were right
When often you were quite wrong.
- Oh Dad - I just couldn't tell you - I loved you for the belief you had in yourself.

My Dad - never the romantic hero.
Saying the wrong things and not really ever understanding the female mind.
But trying, always trying.
- Oh Dad - I said nothing - but I loved you for the way you adored my mother.

My Dad – often the proud hero.
Loving it when your son talked to you man to man
Or you shared a joke or an aside.
- Oh Dad – so proud in his company, and I loved you for the wonderful father you were.

My Dad - forever the gentle hero.
Always my stability, always my rock, always a special place in my heart.
-ÌýOh Dad - I loved you simply because you were you.
