All was silent in the land of Elves. No-one spoke or said anything.ÌýDrow sat on his diminutive throne ready to call a meeting to the rest of the Elves.Ìý
"Silence.ÌýI would like to say a few things," Drow coughed, "we have had this drought long enough and it is time to get rid of it for good."
All the Elves cheered softly (they had soar throats from not drinking enough water because of the drought).
"Now, I need someone brave enough and tough enough to go and find the crystal of health to save our land."
All of a sudden a petite elf came towards the throne.
"I will, your miniature majesty," said Erif.
The hall was filled with laughter because of how small Erif was even though all the rest of the Elves were almost as small as he was.
"Fine then, I can see that you have the courage to take my difficult challenge.ÌýI will give you the map this evening so that you can set off first thing tomorrow," said the miniature majesty.
Later on that same day, Erif went to go and visit Drow to have the map given to him.Ìý Erif scanned each corner of the map.ÌýThen he stopped.ÌýHis face changed as he looked at the bridge crossing Lava Lake and the path trailing through the treacherous forest.Ìý
"Are you still up to my challenge," asked Drow.
Erif nodded his head and went to go and pack for tomorrow's great task.....
Early next morning, Erif woke up bright and early ready for the majesty's challenge.Ìý Erif sauntered towards the hall where the king was.
"Erif is that you?" asked Drow unsurely.
"Yes, I'm ready for your great task."
Drow walked towards Erif and gave him a drink of revitalizing water and a bag of salted tree nuts.
"Hurry along then don't be late," said Drow Erif exited the hall and walked towards a monumental hill land on the other side of the hill is the treacherous forest.ÌýAs soon as Erif reached the forest Nepo his pet mouse scurried swiftly off on his own into the forest.ÌýErif stopped.
"Nepo, come back!"
It was no use. Nepo had gone. Erif trekked through the forest glancing over at all the birds staring at him.....
All of a sudden, Erif heard a small squeak near a lofty tree.Ìý
"Nepo, is that you?"
The squeaking stopped. Erif started to trek towards the tree and there he found Nepo staring at a large hole at the bottom of the tree.Ìý
"You think we can get down there Nepo nodded. Moments later, Erif and Nepo were swiftly sliding down the tunnel.ÌýSuddenly Erif and Nepo were shot out of the tunnel and they landed right in front of the Larva Lake. Nepo turned his head (he was scared).ÌýÌý
"Come on Nepo we have to go across the Larva Lake so that we can retrieve the crystal of health," mentioned Erif.
Nepo took a quick glance at the Larva Lake and then went back into a ball.
"Fine, I will go on my own."
Erif took a small step on to the first plank of wood.ÌýHe paced each foot with care on each plank.ÌýOnce Erif reached the end of the bridge, Nepo lightened up and swiftly scurried across the bridge.Ìý
"That's the spirit," Laughed Erif.
As the hours went by Erif could just make out something glistening in the distance.Ìý They both ran towards it and gently picked up the crystal.ÌýNepo began to squeak again.
"What's the matter. Wow you found another porthole let's go down it."
Once again the two good friends were sliding down the sombre tunnel.
"Weeeeeeeeeee! Thud!"
When Erif and Nepo landed on the firm ground they noticed that they where in the land of elves.
"It's Erif and Nepo," shouted one of the elves.
"He's got the crystal," shouted another.
"YEY THE DROUGHT WILL BE OVER!"
Erif rushed over to an empty hole and place the crystal inside.ÌýSuddenly, a vibrant flicker of light spread over the land.ÌýWhen one elf spoke he sounded better than ever, then all the other elves began to talk to each other.ÌýErif was then given a medal for his great bravery and no-one ever doubted his size.
