The forest lay silently sleeping, Whilst the stars twinkled above, Somewhere in a small clearing, A wolf was searching for love. The howl pierced the moonlight, It shattered the still night air, Small animals fled to their burrows, Fearing the wolf standing there. But this lonely wolf was not hunting, He was not even out on the prowl, He was searching for someone to love him, Someone to soften his growl. He feared that the howl wouldn't help him, But decided that it was worth a try, It echoed around in the moonlight, But the wolf didn't get a reply. The wolf turned out of the clearing, Maybe this was meant to be, A wolf drowned in sadness, A heart longing to be free. The wolf headed out of the clearing, But as he walked away, A young wolf heard his love cry, Many miles away. The forest lay silently sleeping, Whist the stars twinkled above, Somewhere in a small clearing, Two wolves were happily in love. |
