Man of Steel by Mick Henson Be there and get art!Artists at Barton Hall Studios are looking forward to welcoming guests and visitors to their Open Weekend on 2nd and 3rd December, 2006. The exhibition begins on the Saturday, 2nd December 2006 and follows through to Sunday, 3rd December 2006 from 10.30am to 4.30pm offering refreshments and festive nibbles. Many guests will be visiting familiar faces and seeing some of their favourite works in addition to newer artists with work such as illustration, fine art, sculpture and jewellery. Mick HensonLocal artist Mick Henson expressed his pleasure to be involved once again with the open event at Barton Hall Studios. "After the reaction we all had in the summer I am thrilled to be here and looking forward to receiving the public and showing them my latest creation." Mick is well on the way to the final stages of his mammoth concept. "I had great feedback with my Iron Man, I hope this evokes the same response." You can see Mick and his work in the Stable Yard of Barton Hall. Ask the artistAs you walk around the corridors of the first floor of the hall, works will be on show for your perusal with the artists on hand to guide you and answer any enquiries you may have. Many guests have sat and discussed their particular favourites, having a genuine understanding before acquiring their unique artwork. Guests can learn about different processes, the time and commitment that has gone into each creation when visiting artists in their own distinct working environment. Maxine's Cow by Maxine Dodd Maxine DoddWandering even higher into the hall you will find two further studios situated in the loft space. Explore the works of Maxine Dodd who has delighted many people with her beautiful drawings and sketches of 'Mr Moo' and images of rural sports. Mo PriceMo Price will tempt you with her love of all things silver. Her contemporary jewellery and concepts are a 'must see' for any visitor. She says "through the perception of the surrounding environment, I have designed conceptual pieces that play with our senses. These pieces intrigue not only the wearer but the spectator too." Distraction Ring by Mo Price Mo continues: "Having a studio at Barton Hall has been a fantastic opportunity for me, not only do I have a fully equipped workshop for making, but it is also an ideal location to work with other artists and for customers to visit to discuss commissions and see the diversity of my work." A huge thank youThis is a great event for the local community to see the varied types and styles of art in such a wonderful setting. It is thanks to the Wicksteed Park and the Wicksteed Trust that the artists are once again opening their doors to the general public for another inspiring event.听 Oliver Wicksteed, Chairman of the Trust says, "I am delighted that the Trust are in a position to offer support to the local artists at Barton Hall.听It is important to the Trust that we continue supporting our local arts community because of our commitment to arts and education generally.听The variety of work displayed by the artists during these exhibitions make it a very enjoyable and educational visit."
