Music
& Special Needs Norfolk
MSNN is a voluntary group aiming to make music therapy more
widely available in Norfolk, beginning with young children. Music
therapy can help with communication disorders, learning disabilities,
mental health problems, physical difficulties, emotional problems
and challenging behaviour.
By
establishing a relationship through music, the child can experience
and explore new ways of relating, leading to development and change.
MSNN is fundraising to continue with a pilot project in three schools
and hopes that it will become available in more schools. More information

Count
Me In
This confidential, free support service offers email support
by and for disabled young people. It is part of the Red Cross' Youth
Befriending Programme and is for young people who feel isolated
as a result of their disability.
Young
disabled people can access peer support from members of the Count
Me In team who draw on their own experience to offer advice, support
and friendship. Young people can access Count Me In directly at

Dyspraxia
The West Norfolk Dyspraxia Foundation is setting up a new support
group for adults and teenagers with dyspraxia. Meetings will be
held in the King's Lynn and possibly at another location, depending
on demand. Carol McGinn is now taking names and addresses of people

Credit
Union
A South Norfolk Credit Union will be available to anyone who
lives or works in the district from the spring. It will provide
a community-based savings and borrowings financial service.
The
Steering Group which is setting up the union needs volunteers to
run collection points and sit on the board and support committees
and is looking for people with all kinds of skills - full training
will be provided. Anyone interested in volunteering to help set
up the Union or to enquire about membership should contact Mark

Music
& Communication
A practical one day course exploring music making and communication
is being held for carers and support staff who work with adults
with a visual and learning disability (maximum 16 people). The course
will be held by the RNIB Multiple Disability Service at the UEA
Sportspark, Norwich on Friday 15th March. Cost £80.00 per

Steps
WEETU is offering a range of Steps courses which are free of
charge to women. WEETU can also contribute towards travel costs
and childcare for pre-school children.
A
Choosing the Way course is designed to help women *identify skills;
*find out about training and job opportunities; *discover the path
you want to take and how to go about it; *improve your job hunting
skills; and *boost your self confidence.
Courses
will be held in Norwich from 18th February and after Easter in Fakenham,
Wymondham, Loddon, and Thetford. Also on offer are CLAIT (Computer
Literacy & Information Technology) classes at Norwich, Gt. Yarmouth,
Lyng, Fakenham and Wymondham (also possibly at North Walsham) and
IBT2 (CLAIT follow up) courses in South Norfolk, Norwich, Fakenham,
Gt. Yarmouth & North Repps.
WEETU
will also run short work-related certificates: Basic Food Hygiene
Certificate; Health & Safety Certificate; and First Aid. Further

West
Norwich Repair Help
Older people in West Norwich who are struggling with home repairs
are to be helped by a new service. A group of agencies has joined
up to offer free repairs to things such as door handles, dripping
taps, cracked glass, fence panels etc. Telephone Age Concern Norwich

WellFamily
Service
This service was set up in Swaffham in 1998, developed and managed
by the Family Welfare Association as one of 5 pilot projects. Following
its success and additional funding, it has been able to extend to
a wider area in West Norfolk.
Family
Support Workers are now working with GP surgeries in Swaffham, Litcham,
Great Massingham, Feltwell, Boughton and the Norfolk patients of
two Brandon surgeries.
WellFamily
provides counselling support, advice and information to individuals
of all ages and families, who are experiencing difficulties in their
daily lives which have not reached the eligibility criteria for
statutory services 'intervention'. Contact Geraldine Walsh on 01760

SpEArHead
SpEArHead (Special Education at 91热爆) is a newly formed independent
non-profit making advice organisation offering a free and independent
service to all parents. It was established to respond to a growing
number of requests from parents of children with special educational
needs, for accurate information and advice about their legal right
to home educate their children.
Information is free and mainly by telephone or e-mail; parents may
be asked to cover expenses incurred relating to an adviser offering

Cromer
Resource Centre
The Norfolk & Norwich Association for the Blind (NNAB) has opened
a new weekly resource centre at Cromer. It opens every Monday from
10.00am - 4.00pm at the North Norfolk Conservative Association's
Founders Room on Louden Road and stocks equipment including talking
watches and clocks, large button phones, magnifiers, games and puzzles.
