My
name is Ally. I moved to Florida in 1988 when I was 20 years
old.The last place I lived at was Great Yarmouth. I used to
work on the Queen of the Broads Pleasure Cruise and used to
go all around Norfolk on this boat. I used to love that job
- there's nothing like the Norfolk countryside. I went to Caister
High School and to BlythJex In Norwich, we used to live In Sprowston
and my parent bought the Cottage Gallery Restaurant ay Caister-on-Sea.
The best memories of my life was In Great Yarmouth. I have lost
contact with my friends but I miss everybody. I also used to
work at the Theatre Royal at the seafront, but I hear It is
just a cinema now. I remember Tiffaney's nightclub on the seafront
also Rosey's and Spangle's used to be on Regent Road. The 80s
was my time and miss those days terribly. The last time I was
in Yarmoth was last Christmas. I was wandering the streets of
Yarmouth trying to bump into some of my old friends but after
10 years I guess they have moved on!! I had my American daughter
with me and It was getting rather cold, homesick person.

I
moved to Norway in the early 197Os and I am one of the lucky
ones who get to visit Norwich four to six times a year. Norwich
just gets better and better. The Castle Mall, the new hospital
and of course the magnificent Millennium buIlding. Still miss
the people though. Are there any former Hewett School pupils
from the early sixties tuned in?

I
can remember as a child spending the most marvellous holidays
at North Denes caravan park, Great Yarmouth. It often rained
during that annual week's holiday but it didn't seem to matter,
and I swam in the cold North Sea, come rain or shine. This was
the sixties and early seventies. We always rented a caravan
on the seafront, and it was a delight to awaken to the sound
of the waves. There were no toilets or electricity only the
gas lamps to light our way and we had to collect water from
an outside tap - seems more like hard work than a holiday, but
my brother and I loved it. We would always go to see a show
or two, I can remember seeing Jimmy Tarbuck for one, and going
to see the newly released "On The Buses" film. Nowadays I live
in a thriving holiday spot, the sea is only a few steps away
from my work, and the sun shines most of the year, but I would
love to bring my children to Gt. Yarmouth to sample the delights
of a true, traditional, British seaside holiday, although of
course the caravans are rather more sophisticated than in my
youth!!

As
an ex-pat living in Sydney, Australia since 1988, I am wondering
if there are any old Worlledgians out there. Having attended
the Edward Worlledge School, Gt Yarmouth, in 1938/40, we were
evacuated to Radcliffe-on-Trent in early 1940, and our schooling
was rather disrupted. My family then moved to Hunstanton, and
after marriage I moved to Downham Market from where I emigrated
in 1988. Miss all the Norfolk scenery very much ,especially
Thetford Forest area.

East
Anglians, think of yourselves as very lucky people to live in
Norfolk. Twenty-one years ago I left behind the historic City
of Norwich and the beautiful countryside of Norfolk to live
in Madison Connecticut USA. I have worked hard and have gained
everything material in life that I could ever have wanted. But
all this came at the sacrifice of the quality of life and the
slower pace of life that is enjoyed in Norfolk. In America everything
is fast, fast food, fast cars, fast money, and fast people. East
Anglians - consider yourself very lucky people to live in Norfolk.

I
miss Norfolk too! I am from a small village called Saxlingham
Nethergate just 8 miles south of Norwich. I now live in North
America, and have spent most of my career in Toronto, Canada,
and Pittsburgh. It's funny, after reading all the excerpts from
other ex-Norfolk-ites, it dawned on me that whilst in Norfolk,
people dream of travelling abroad and working away from home
(probably due to the remoteness and lack of decent extra-county
motorway connectivity)...but the fact still remains, once you
leave, you are fast to want to return home - you're all happier
at home! Thanks to 91热爆 for doing an absoluetly tip top job of
bringing the essence of home to our computers, and helping us
remember what is so special and central to us all. I also miss
91热爆 TV programming, some of us are fortunate enough to view
91热爆 America, and get to re-live quality television programming,
admist utter "bunkum" to use a popular Norfolk euphemism. Take
care all, and go back to the little county in the East, you
won't believe what you have been missing.

I
miss Norfolk so much it is unbelievable. I am from Great Yarmouth,
I love that town so much and can't wait to get back there in
the summer. For all the other expats I know how you feel, it
is a lovely place.

I
have just found this website and what joy, I bet you think I
am across the water - USA or NZ or OZ but no I am in Bedford.
I miss Norfolk so much. Born at the village shop in Spixworth,
daughter of the late Ralph Colegate, I went to the Notre Dame
School in Surrey Street. Moved to Norwich to College Rd, then
Gloucester Street, round the corner to Maida Vale, ending up
in Carrow Road. Many friends I had married American servicemen
and went to the States how I would love to find some of those
girls.
My Grandfather was Robert Utting, gamekeeper at Holkham Hall,
my mother Dorothy Utting was born at the lodge there. My uncle
was a fisherman living at Wells. My other grandparents ran the
local school at Colby. So you see I belong all over Norfolk
When
I hear the accent I want to come home and I know if I speak
to that stranger with the Norfolk accent they won't be an stranger
for long.
I
miss the people, the countyside, the narrow lanes where as a
child I used to walk with my dog to Rackheath, the harvesttime
when the smell of the hay filled the air and the dust blew over
the fields. Church on Sunday was either Crostwick or Spixworth
where I sang in the choir and sometimes played the organ.
There is so much more I could write a book, I could tell about
the characters in the villages around where my dad and I delivered
the papers. If any of you reading this know of me I would love
to hear from you.

I
have just discovered this site from a cousin in Norwich and
I am really pleased to see it up and running...well done 91热爆.
I haven't been home for many years and most of what I knew as
Norwich is probably rebuilt and gone. I left in 1973 and have
never made it back...one day I will. I miss the food, the people
and Carrow Road (even if they aren't winning much). Great job,
will say hi again soon.

I
miss my son Paul, my daughter-in-law Lisa, and my three grandchildren
- Kelly, Kyle and Kevin, who live in Norfolk. I am a British
subject living and working abroad. I love to check 91热爆 Norfolk
Online every few days to find out what the weather is like,
and what is going on in general. It's great! Thanks for being
there so I can keep in touch. I miss my family and England sooooo
much!

Just
found this link from the main 91热爆 page and am delighted that
it exists! I was born in Sheringham in 1945 (a "Sheringham Dab")
when the family farm was in Stiffkey. We lived briefly in Suffolk
then moved to Ditchingham, Norfolk, in 1950. I attended All
Hallows School from 1950-1961 (any "old girls" out there?).
My mother continued to live in Ditchingham until she died Christmas
Day 1998. After living in London, Cornwall, France and Greece,
I moved to the US and have lived in the San Francisco Bay Area
ever since (26 years). I just love it here but always think
of Norfolk as home. What do I love about Norfolk? The North
Norfolk coast, the wildness of the marshes, the creeks, the
corn fields full of poppies bordered by lovely dense woods,
the tiny lanes through farmland, the great expanse of sky, Geldeston
Lock (someone else wrote that she likes it too!), Elm Hill,
walking around the old part of Norwich, Spink's Hill near Ditchingham,
the River Waveney at Bungay, Beccles (both Suffolk towns but
right on the border), the wonderful National Trust houses (and
my favorite BLICKLING HALL); the Norfolk Black Sheep shop at
Aylsham, where you can get wonderful sweaters and lots of other
clothing items, many of which I have (hope and pray they stay
safe from F&M); Holt, Blakeney, Stiffkey, the beach at Holkham,
all the wonderful little villages on the byways from Norwich
to Ditchingham; the marvellous mediaeval churches, the flint
and brick barns and other buildings....How could anyone find
the Norfolk landscape drab and dull? It's full of beauty and
light and I love it. I will be renting a cottage in Blakeney
in June and look forward to being once again in one of the earth's
special places, NORFOLK.

Hi,
I am an ex-pat living in Muscat, Oman. I was brought up on the
coast in Great Yarmouth where my family still live. My husband
works in the oil industry so we tend to move around every four
years (we are off to Perth, Australia, for our next four year
jaunt). We go back to our house in Norwich every summer and
my children simply love the rain and cold weather! I just wanted
to say that Norwich is wonderful and I love walking around the
city, it's like really coming home every time we visit. PS I
feel really hurt when people write in negative comments about
Norfolk.

I
miss Theford. I was raisd there and what I miss most about my
home is the culture, the pubs, the fish and chip shops and the
candy. I loved taking walks by the rivers and going to the castles
and the markets. I just miss everything about home and wish
I had never set foot out of my country. My one wish is to return
home some day.

I
lived in Sprowston until 1964 when I married and moved to the
States and I have to say that when ever my husband and I get
back to Norfolk we always meet very nice people. We usually
rent a cottage in the Aylsham area and even though we sometimes
get turned around on the country roads we never have a problem
finding someone kind enough to head us the right way. The changes
around Wroxham and Norwich have been extensive over the years
and after traveling the UK Norfolk is still the best.

I
lived in Norfolk for 12 years before I had to leave for uni.
I`d just like to say hi to all my friends and family in Fakenham,
it was a cool place to live even if it was voted the most boring
place on earth.

I
am a visitor from the Netherlands and we come to Norwich twice
a year or more. We like the way that you can park your car outside
Norwich and take the bus for a smalL fee so I wish we had the
same possibilty in Holland. Hope to be in Norwich on the end
of april and looking forward too it.

I
have just found your Norfolk online site, and it's great. My
name is Mike Mendham and I was born in King's Lynn and and till
five years ago I was working at Fosters on the Hardwick Estate.
Then I moved to Arizona, USA. I now live in Indianapolis with
my American wife. It is very hard for everyone, even an expat,
to get a work permit or Green Card. I'm one of the lucky ones
I have got my papers and can travel in and out of the USA and
will be coming home for two weeks' vacation with my wife who
has never been to King's Lynn. She has been reading books about
England and I will be glad to see my family for the first time
in three years. UP THE LINNETTS!

We
live in New Jersey and miss everything about Norfolk. The fact
that you can take walks in the country side and see cows, ducks
and horses or just as easily pop into Norwich for a wander.
There is so much more to do and especially for children. We
definitely think the quality of life is better in Norfolk than
it is here and cannot wait to move back later this year. My
husband is American and loves it just as much as I do.

Well
hello there in Norfolk. 聽I have just discovered 91热爆 Norfolk
Online by accident whilst checking the weather in Downham Market
where my husband, Alan Yallop, comes from. He misses his family
more than anything and being able to buy duck, samphire, and
more than anything, the markets. I love everything about England
but Alan hates the crowds of people. It will be great to be
able to keep up with the news. Cheers

Hello
expats. Thought I'd add a line or two here, just for fun. I
love Elm Hill, the Adam and Eve, Geldeston Locks, Cathedral
Close, rape fields in summer, the new St Peters Hall Brewery,
festivals in Earlham Park and grungey people in Unthank Road.
I wish I could have East Anglia just down the road, but probably
won't visit it again for a few years. Australia is great but
home is home and always will be.
