Jim Bacon joins Karen on Monday Here come the boys!By Karen Buchanan While the cat's away, the mouse will play. 91Èȱ¬ Radio Norfolk's Morning Show presenter Graham Barnard is off on his holidays, so co-presenter Karen Buchanan has lined up a host of gorgeous guys to replace him. Blimey! I thought he'd never take the hint. "Graham, honey. I've heard UKSilverTV are running a week long On The Buses special from Monday, 8 December, 2008. "Graham, sweetie. I think you should start up a business doing tours of transmitters for tourists. You could call it The Ten Town Transmitter Tour. "Graham, darling. I need some space. Why don't you take a week off?" It takes a while with some guys, but the penny eventually dropped and he agreed to go on holiday - the Deptford Bus Depot, since you ask and he's off from Monday, 8 December, 2008, for the whole week. Call me wicked, call me gleeful, but I wasted no time lining up some hot hunks to replace him. As Sinitta once decreed, "He's got to be So Macho", so after I scoured the highways and byways of Norfolk (I've got to admit, Mr Barnard is a hard act to follow), to find my Magnificent Macho Men. Monday, 8 December, 2008, 10.00am - 1.00pmOn Monday, I'll be joined by jolly Jim Bacon - that lovely weather bloke off the telly. We'll be finding out how to survive the stresses and strains of Christmas, trying on posh frocks (Jim, not me) and discovering how Jim went from turkey plucker to organic gardener. On top of all that, Jim's offered to let me meet one of his celebrity chums - a man he intriguingly calls 'Michel Poisson'. Tuesday, 9 December, 2008, 10.00am - 1.00pmOn Tuesday, it's the turn of rock legend and Grumpy Old Man Rick Wakeman to join me in the hot seat (although, contractually, I'm sadly told we'll have to have separate chairs). We'll be talking to a former Norwich City FC star turned policeman about drinking and how easy it is to go from 'one for the road' to 'off the rails'. Also, we'll be chatting to Grumpy Old Woman Jenny Eclair, getting the dictionary out in honour of Rick's role on Countdown and revealing his secret hobby. You'll never guess it in a million years! Wednesday, 10 December, 2008, 10.00am - 1.00pmOn Wednesday, I'm joined by Mr Smooth. The all-singing, all-dancing, surfing star of Inside Out, David Whiteley. Mr Amelia Reynolds will be downing a few of Norfolk's finest real ales (he's a serious investigative journalist you know!), being generally charming and wonderful and confessing to a secret obsession. Thursday, 11 December, 2008, 10.00am - 1.00pmI've managed to persuade the avuncular Norwich City chairman Roger Munby to be my macho man on Thursday. We'll be squaring up to our antiques expert Mike Hicks, taking Ian Gibson MP to task over the smoking ban and hopefully celebrating taking three points from Ipswich Town. Friday, 12 December, 2008, 10.00am - 1.00pmWe finish the week with a bang. One of Norfolk's top 200 comedians, Karl Minns, erstwhile Norwich Evening News columnist and one half of the Nimmo Twins, will hold my hand for what's set to be a hilarious end to the week. Gasp as Karl trades insults with Have I Got News For You star Ian Hislop. Giggle as Karl gets to grips with our Ladies at Lunch and guffaw as he and Evening News star columnist Stacia Briggs put the world to rights and launch their Norwich Puppet Man For President campaign. Or something like that. Karl knows his stuff. He's Norfolk and good, so don't miss it. The Graham and Karen Show with Karen Buchanan and guest presenters; Jim Bacon, Rick Wakeman, David Whiteley, Roger Munby and Karl Minns. last updated: 11/12/2008 at 11:55 SEE ALSOYou are in: Norfolk > Local Radio > Features > Here come the boys! |
