The appeal helps to provide a little Christmas cheer to people across Norfolk, thanks to your donations. Find out where the collection centres are where you live. The Toys and Tins Appeal is a collaboration between 91Èȱ¬ Radio Norfolk, The Salvation Army and various agencies across Norfolk. The 2008 appeal is launched on Monday, 24 November, 2008. For many people Christmas time is doom and gloom. People may be alone and families may be in need. The Toys and Tins Appeal provides a little cheer to disadvantaged individuals and families across Norfolk every year. More than 3000 people and 1000 households in Norfolk have benefited from the campaign so far. Toys and Tins in Dereham With your donations of toys, tins and treats, a team of volunteers work across Norfolk collecting and sorting the gifts from the many drop-off points and then pack them into parcels and hampers. These are then distributed across Norfolk. The Salvation Army works closely with social services and other local agencies to identify who is vulnerable during this special time of year and decide who would benefit from a festive parcel or hamper to bring some Christmas joy into their lives. Donations should not be gift wrapped and can include: Toys or treats for children and teenagers, any tins of food or non-perishable goods such as dried foods and treats like chocolates, sweets and 'smellies'. All Salvation Army centres in Norfolk will be accepting donations up until Saturday, 20 December, 2008.
