"'I've been in the fitness industry for about 19 years. It's been fantastic and I really enjoy it. But about two or three years ago I decided I wanted to something else as well and I came across pole dancing," said personal trainer Kathy Buller.

"I am a pole dance instructor. It's a great job. I absolutely adore what I do. It’s great getting people in the door who are every age.

"From 18 to 19-year-old, to the oldest lady that I had who was 72.Ìý She was superb. Full of enthusiasm, life and vitality. Her husband thought it was great, she thought it was great.

"People are doing it to keep fit, to have a bit of fun and basically to tone themselves up. It is a great way to exercise.

"In a class I will work on about three to four poles, with a maximum of three to four girls per pole. Some people assume that when you go to a class you get a pole each, but it's extremely tiring.

"If you can imagine gymnastics, acrobatics, aerobics, toning class and weight training all evolved into one fun choreographed class, then you've got pole.

Confidence building

"It's a great way to move, its awe inspiring, it's building people's confidence.

"I've had such a wide variety of people (come to my classes) from people who are depressed, to agoraphobics. This changes their life. It gives them self confidence and a self-belief that they can do something.

“Especially females. Making them feel like they are a sexy woman, you know we have a right to feel sexy and this is a great way to do it."
