They describe themselves as hopping between the genres of indie and punk - and with their rapid and energetic blink-and-you'll-miss-it sets, you can see why The Kabeedies are a band getting noticed.

Out to impress

On Thursday, 19 July, 2007, the group went to London to play their first ever set in the capital at a showcase put on by 91Èȱ¬ Blast.

I travelled down with them on their tour bus (or should that be mini-bus!) to capture their thoughts on camera as they revved themselves up for their slot on stage - and I managed to catch a bit of their set on film too!

The Kabeedies were picked to play for a VIP crowd after performing at Norwich's Waterfront in May for an event staged by Blast and Great Leap Forward, which helps to promote young bands.

The band - who only fully got together six months ago - played a frantic six songs which included their favourite track Sideburns.

Showcasing music

After initial nerves, the excitable four-piece of Katie Allard, Francis 'Fab' Bell, Evan Jones and Rory Hill relished the opportunity and sucked up the atmosphere at London's Hyde Park.

The Norwich outfit were one of just three acts to be invited to London together with a Southampton MC crew and a Birmingham hip-hop act to provide a taste of the country's different music scenes.
