A cat which went missing in Scotland last month has finally been found - more than 300 miles away from his home.

Beans disappeared in October and his owners had almost given up hope of finding him.

The ginger and white cat was reunited with his family after he was found in the city of Coventry in the West Midlands.

The cheeky feline is now back at his home and settling in well.

What happened to Beans the cat?

Beans went missing from his home in North Lanarkshire towards the end of October after leaving the house.

"He went out as normal because he likes to go for a wander but always comes home for some food, usually after a few hours," owner Cara explained.

However, the moggy didn't return and Cara scoured the local area but couldn't find him.

She added: "We searched and searched, looking everywhere. I've been out every day looking but thought something must have happened to him.

It's not known how or why Beans travelled to England but somehow he managed to make way his way to Coventry.

There, he was spotted by a lady called Kelly.

"I just gave him a few biscuits to start with but heard he was going to visit other neighbours too and it felt like he was around too much and that something wasn't quite right, " Kelly said.

Kelly decided to take Beans to a local cat charity, who were able to scan his microchip and reunite him with Cara.

"I didn't think to look in England, I didn't imagine he could have gone that far," Cara remarked.

"When we got him back, we let him out in the car for a cuddle then put him back in his carrier for the long journey."

Cara says that Beans is now safely back home and the family's other cat, Missy, was happy to see him return.
