Police appoint two senior officers from the UK

States of Jersey Police have appointed two senior officers from the UK to bring "command experience".

Stewart Gull will become superintendent head of crime and Bernard Gravett has been appointed superintendent head of operations.

Mr Gull is a chief superintendent with Suffolk Constabulary and Mr Gravett a superintendent in the Metropolitan Police.

Both officers have over 30 years' police experience.

Mr Gull was the lead detective in the case of Steve Wright, the serial killer who murdered five women who worked as prostitutes in Ipswich.

Mr Gravett is the UK team leader in a joint venture with Romania dealing with issues like human trafficking, intelligence-sharing and delivering training across the world to police officers.

Jersey Police Chief Officer Mike Bowron said: "Both are highly experienced officers with a history of service delivery who will be an asset to the force, providing valuable leadership, command experience and resilience at senior level."

Barry Taylor has also been appointed as deputy chief officer of the States of Jersey Police.

Mr Taylor joined the Jersey force as acting deputy chief officer in March 2009.

Minister for 91热爆 Affairs Senator Ian Le Marquand thanked Mr Taylor for his "very significant contribution" and wished him well in his continuing role.
