Graduates wanted to train in Jersey to be teachers
Graduates interested in training to be a teacher in Jersey are being sought by the island's education department.
The Jersey Graduate Training Programme is a one year course run by the Jersey Education Department.
It was set up help islanders who are interested in a career in teaching who would find it difficult to go to a UK university to train.
Potential teachers for all subjects would be considered but priority is given to key areas of the curriculum.
The Education department said there may be a shortage of staff in maths, English and sciences.
There will be an information evening at the Education Sport and Culture Department at 1800 GMT on Wednesday at which people can find out more about the Jersey Graduate Training programme.
Cliff Chipperfield, a business manager for Schools and Colleges, said it had proved to be a valuable way of tapping into an extra source of teaching talent in Jersey.
