Jersey environment panel has speed limit plan concerns
A panel reviewing government policy said it has a number of concerns about plans to alter speed limits in Jersey.
The Environment Scrutiny Panel was given time to re-examine the speed limits policy before it was debated.
The policy was supposed to be discussed last year but the panel was given more time to look at what it describes as a blanket approach to speed limits.
Among the questions the panel will be looking at are how a new penalties system will work.
Chairman Deputy Phil Rondel said he was very surprised that the transport department had not analysed a report from the speed limits working group.
They will also examine the evidence that supports increasing the speed limit in green lanes from 15 to 20mph and also why there was a need to change the existing speed limits at all.
