Jersey hopes rise on health deal with UK

Jersey is hoping a reciprocal health agreement with the UK will be reinstated.

An agreement ended in April 2009 leaving UK visitors paying for health care when in Jersey and vice versa.

The agreement, originally introduced in 1976, was ended by the UK because it was not deemed to offer value for money for the British taxpayer.

The Channel Islands are hoping to follow the Isle of Man and get the agreement reinstated.

Jersey's Health Minister Anne Pryke said it showed that the UK Government was open to negotiation.
