A total of 35 jobs are being created in the first phase of 拢136m work to modernise Gwynedd's former council housing stock.

Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd Cyf (CCG) is opening a manufacturing facility at Bangor's Llandygai Industrial Estate with Nationwide Windows.

CCG says more jobs will be created as work to upgrade 4,000 tenants' homes continues over the next five years.

They took over the ownership of Gwynedd council's housing stock in April.

The not-for-profit organisation plans to replace windows and doors in the properties in the first phase of the investment between January and March.

Nationwide Windows (UK) Ltd has been appointed as the contractor, and says they are committed to providing local jobs and using local suppliers.

"This is excellent news," said CCG chief executive Ffrancon Williams. "I'm pleased that the local economy is already seeing the benefit of our investment.

"This is only the beginning of our huge investment programme, as work progresses we will deliver more benefits locally, providing jobs and training opportunities."

The installation of new central heating systems is also part of the first phase of works followed by kitchens and bathrooms.
