It's been a year of political upheaval with a general election and a change of government in Westminster - a particularly momentous year for one newsagent's son from Swansea.
Nigel Evans, the Conservative MP for the Ribble Valley, was elected deputy speaker of the House of Commons in June and made the headlines this month when he revealed he was gay.
