A council has shelved its plans for legal action over a catering contract with a Scottish football club.

The Dumfries and Galloway authority provided the service for Queen of the South until September last year.

However, that was withdrawn in a dispute over payment issues with the Palmerston Park side.

A council spokeswoman said agreement had now been reached on the amount owed and it no longer anticipated having to take legal action.

The news comes against a background of economic difficulties at the Dumfries club.

It recently revealed it was facing "severe pressure" on its finances due to winter match cancellations.

Fans are planning a variety of fundraising events in order to support their team.
