Police are looking for two teenage boys after a delivery rider had his moped stolen in a "terrifying" armed robbery.

The rider was threatened with "what appeared to be a firearm" after he dropped off a delivery at Murrayburn Gardens in Edinburgh on Monday evening.

As he approached the delivery address at about 22:55 he noticed a teenage boy was on his moped.

Police Scotland said when he asked the youth to get off another teenager appeared and threatened him.

The boys took his phone and moped keys and made off towards Westside Plaza.

The moped was recovered two hours later in Morvenside, in the Wester Hailes area.

The teenagers were described as white males aged 15 to 16 years old, of skinny build and with softly spoken Scottish accents.

They were both said to be dressed all in black, wearing balaclavas, jacket, joggers, shoes and gloves.

Det Insp Kevin Tait said: "This was a terrifying experience for the victim and it is vital that we trace the two individuals responsible."

He asked for anyone who saw anything suspicious or has CCTV or dashcam footage of two males riding on a moped in the Wester Hailes area to pass it on to officers.
